Formed by former members of the band Oracle, which was active between 1990 and 1994.

Corey Gilchrist (son of former bassist Peter Gilchrist) joined Ilium in 2005 but left after losing a foot in a serious train accident in October that year. This also left to his father departing Ilium for the second time. Bizarrely enough, Corey featured in the second season of reality TV show Australian Idol.
